Dr. Ashley is the President & CEO of Dr. Willard Ashley, Sr., LLC, Upper Montclair, New Jersey, where he conducts webinars, consultation, psychoanalysis, couples counseling, group therapy, and coaching. He is a trustee and faculty member of the New Jersey Institute for the Training in Psychoanalysis. He is also an Advisory Board Member of Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School. Ashley instructs doctoral students about racial trauma at the Rutgers University School of Social Work. Reverend Ashley has served as pastor for 42 years at various congregations. Willard is an organizer, learner, and trainer for the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond. Dr. Ashley is a retired professor who was the second African American granted tenure and the first African American Dean of the Seminary New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS). He is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP), Black Psychoanalysts Speak (BPS), American Association for Marriage & Family Therapists (AAMFT), New Jersey Association for Marriage & Family Therapists (NJAMFT), American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society EGPS), International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (IAPSP) and the American Baptist Churches, USA (ABCUSA).
